Mary
There’s something about Mary
Our connection to this wonderful, amazing woman is her youngest daughter,
Shaun…..or as we all know her, Glassy.
From an early age Shaun filled the glass house many a time, with many a friend, and
with many a drink. To which Mary became accustomed.
So many times Shaun would plead for us to keep it down because her mum was
trying to sleep – we always managed to keep it down…for at least a few
minutes….before Shaun would remind us once again…..
..well…Mary would appear with a stern and sleepy eye, softened by the fact that her
youngest was surrounded by all of her mates
and more often than not, several empty bottles of rum.
Mary’s concern for her daughter was understandable as she had suffered her own
significant loss with the passing of her husband Noel, and treasured her family
greatly.
Mary embraced us all, whether simply with open arms and a cup of tea, OR with a
watchful eye from the kitchen window as we all partied in and around the pool.
Mary’s way with words was unsurpassed.
She would often ask, ‘Don’t you own a hairbrush?’….or
‘Don’t you own a pair of shoes?’
needless to say she did not care either way, we were her daughters friends, and we
always will be.
Mary, we just want to tell you that you have grown from being not only our close
friends mum, you have grown into our close friend…
We love you…we will all miss you very much
There will always be……..Something about Mary….
